2 vols., 18mo, pp. 256; 272 + additional engraved title-page in each vol. and 5 other plates. Contemporary red straight-grained morocco, boards bordered with a gilt rule, spines divided by a gilt rule, second compartment gilt-lettered direct, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. A little light browning and spotting. Spines darkened, joints and corners somewhat rubbed, a few old marks and scratches.
A pleasant example of from Cooke's Pocket Edition of Select Novels, one of several series the enterprising publisher produced. Cooke appears to have been the only publisher to have consistently spelled the title 'Roderic' rather than 'Roderick', which he does on the title-pages and plate captions, though as the text was presumably set from an earlier edition, in the letterpress it's still 'Roderick'.
