12mo, pp. 230, . Original sprinkled sheep, spine ruled in gilt, front board stamped ‘Glasgow Bible Society’ in blind. Spotted, some soiling. Binding soiled, extremities rubbed, flyleaves excised, joints cracking at ends but strong.
A reading edition of the Scots Gaelic translation of the New Testament, first published 1767 (and revised 1796): it 'contains neither note, comment, nor various readings' (Bibliotheca Scoto-Celtica). This copy is unusual in being as issued without the Old Testament of the same date, which the BS-C states it is 'always to be found bound with', though it makes a still handier volume for reading on the go that way. The binding on this copy is stamped for the Glasgow Bible Society, at the time a separate organisation to the Edinburgh Bible Society that sponsored the printing.
