Notes

Printed by Joseph Jones, a publisher and printer in Wilmington, Delaware. Hugh Blair (1718-1800) was a professor of Rhetoric and Belles Lettres at the University of Edinburgh and played a significant part in the Scottish Enlightenment. His lectures on rhetoric were hugely popular in the United States, seeing many editions along the east coast as different universities adapted the text for their students.
This edition is scarce in the UK, with Library Hub locating one copy only at Cambridge University.
