FIRST EDITION, folio, pp. 304, 205-212, 313-628 (text continuous despite pagination) + frontispiece and 26 plates. Contemporary mottled calf, boards bordered with a gilt roll. Some scattered toning and spotting, one gathering browned. Sometime rebacked in paler speckled calf, red morocco label, new endpapers, boards pitted from mottling, scratched and worn.

Notes

Hooper's lavish history of the English civil war was reissued in two smaller-format volumes in 1745, but without the impressive plates that adorn this edition.
