FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. xii, 285, [1] + frontispiece, 2 plates, 2 folding maps, and 1 folding facsimile. Original green pebble-grain cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Plates spotted. Boards lightly soiled, head of spine snagged with a short tear to rear joint. Library stamp and cancellation overstamp to title-page.

Notes

The first travel book by Christopher Wordsworth (1807-1886), nephew of William Wordsworth and Bishop of Lincoln. Following a stellar academic career he visited Greece and Italy, which gave him material for several books. Scarce in the original cloth.
