Early diced russia by Bohn, boards bordered with a double gilt rule, spines divided by raised bands between gilt rules, second and third compartments gilt-lettered direct, marbled edges and endpapers. Some spotting and a few stains. A bit rubbed, a few surface scratches, corners just a touch worn. Bookbinder’s ticket of John Bohn, 31 Frith St, to flyleaf of vol. 1.

An attractive copy of the first printing of Brunck's important edition of Aristophanes, including his Latin translation of the plays. The Latin translation, contained in the fourth volume, has three separate title-pages and registers but is most often found bound together as one volume. This set was bound by the German emigre binder and publisher John Bohn, who established himself in London in 1790.
