Correspondence Between A Mother And Her Daughter at School. Fifth Edition.

  • Taylor, Mrs Ann and Jane Taylor
  • London: Printed for Taylor and Hessey 1821

SKU: 3795 Category: Tag:

12mo, pp. 4, 164, [4, ads] + frontispiece. Contemporary calf, boards bordered with a triple gilt rule enclosing a blind roll, spine panelled in gilt, green morocco label, marbled edges and endpapers. Just a touch of spotting. Rubbed to extremities and a bit worn, some scratches to boards, one corner bruised. Armorial bookplate of A. Pollok to front pastedown.

Despite the epistolaric conceit of the title carried over to the preface, the two authors were actually sisters, whose earlier 'Rhymes for the Nursery' contained the first appearance of Jane Taylor's composition 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.' . A relatively scarce edition, which COPAC records in only the BL and V&A.
