A mixed set of an early modern printing of Dante's (1265-1321) works, edited by fellow Florentine Antonio Maria Biscioni (1674-1756), who first theorised that the character of Beatrice was not a historical figure. The first three volumes were issued separately as 'La Commedia de Dante Alighieri' in 1739, and the first volume here is from that issue, while the remaining volumes are from the 1741 issue that expanded it to a five volume works. The fourth and fifth volumes contain the Convivio, La Vita Nuova, De vulgari eloquentia, and Le Rime.
