The scarce first edition thus of this collection of sermons of John Maclaurin (1693-1754), the previous two editions, of 1755 and 1772 respectively, containing a selection of essays as well. Additionally the sermons here are 'not, in this edition, placed in the order they formerly appeared in; but arranged in that order which seemed more natural to the subjects treated of.' (p. iv).
