FIRST EDITIONS, 4 vols., pp. v, [i], 245, [1] + 5 plates; v, [i], 251, [1]; v, [i], 257, [1] + 4 plates; xi, [i], 529, [1]. Original coloured boards (buff, green, red) printed in black (vols. 1-3) and original brown cloth with spine lettered in gilt (vol. 4). Boards sunned, a few marks, vol. 3 only affected by flooding with lower half warped and wavy and showing a light tidemark throughout as a result.


A note at the beginning of Riding's 'The World and Ourselves' specifies that it 'represents the fourth volume of the literary series Epilogue... I hope soon to be able to renew the original programme with Epilogue V', though this was not to be.
