3 vols., large 8vo, pp. cxcii, 208, 193*-208*, 209-478, 465*-478*, 76 + 28 plate (of which 5 folding); [iv], 479-1002, 8 + 100 plates (of which 1 folding and 5 in colour); [iv], 1003-1469, [1] + 146 plates (1 double-page). Numerous wood engraved illustrations throughout text. Publisher’s textured blue cloth, boards blocked with elaborate gilt tableaux, borders blocked in blind, spines lettered in gilt and blocked in gilt and blind, all edges gilt. A little foxing, repaired small tear to folding map. Slightly rubbed and discoloured, spine ends bruised. Printed booksellers label to corner of front pastedown ‘Sold by Barham & Co. Albion Street, Hyde Park Square’.
