8vo in 4s, pp. xvi, 248, [12]. Later calf, spine divided by raised bands, some compartments with central gilt flower tool. A little soiling and foxing, some offsetting from binding glue to first and last leaves. Rebacked preserving pieces of original backstrip, old leather a touch rubbed, label lost. Cancelled Edinburgh University Library stamp to title page, Theological Library conditions of issue slip to front pastedown.

Notes

Physician James Welwood's history was written at the request of Queen Mary and first printed in 1700. It proved popular, reaching a third edition within a year. 12 copies of this Glasgow printing are recorded in ESTC, half of them in Scotland.
