Contemporary calf, red and black morocco labels, spines tooled in gilt, boards bordered with gilt rules, marbled endpapers. A touch of light spotting. Rather rubbed, some wear to spines and corners. Armorial bookplates of Sir John Mordaunt, Bart. to front pastedowns.


An anthology of verse from Eton College in Latin and Greek. This copy, with an extra leaf of additional subscribers not present in the BL copy, is the scarcer ordinary paper variant, with 10 copies cited by ESTC against 39 of the large paper edition. It belonged to Sir John Mordaunt, 7th Baronet (1734-1806) who was MP for Warwickshire 1793-1802.
