ONE OF 100 COPIES (this unnumbered), PRESENTATION COPY, 8vo, pp. [viii], 302. Title-page in red and black. Contemporary vellum, spine lettered in gilt, edges sprinkled blue. Endpapers foxed, binding just slightly dusty. Modern bookplate to front pastedown, second flyleaf inscribed by the editor: ‘A. Campbell Mclachlan from his Tutor, F. Warre Cornish, Eton 1894’.


A limited edition, beautifully printed by the Chiswick Press with luxurious margins. The text was edited by Francis Warre Cornish (1839-1916), then master of Eton, though he had risen to Vice-Provost by the time he presented this out-of-series copy to one of his pupils.
