Running dampmark to one corner, splashmarks and foxing throughout, pages toned, flyleaf sometime conserved. Stamp of Duncan, Flockhart & Co. to title page, name of company also inscribed in ink to flyleaf and vertically across pages 79 and 147.


A pharmacopoeia bearing signs of use from Edinburgh chemists Duncan, Flockhart & Co., the firm that supplied chloroform to Florence Nightingale, and medicine to the Royal residence at Balmoral for much of the 1860s.
