12mo, pp. [xxii], 346 + engraved frontispiece (by du Guernier after Laguerre). Later half calf, marbled boards, spine decorated with dashed gilt rules, red morocco label. Somewhat browned and spotted, early leaves dustsoiled. Joints rubbed, front hinge cracking, a touch of wear to extremities. Front end-papers with pencil notes relating to the bibliographical makeup of of the volume and a note ‘for the use of the Bibliography Class’.


The second edition of this important miscellany - the first, 1714, had been the first appearance of several of poems by Gay and two translations by Pope.
