First edition of this folklore study, with sections on 'Nature Worship' and 'The Black Art,' including chapters on 'working woe' and 'beneficent rites.' From the library of Professor Edwin Oliver James (1888-1972), an anthropologist who wrote several books on comparative religion and folk belief, recently partially dispersed from the Pusey Library in Oxford.
