Half polished calf, marbled boards, spine divided by triple gilt rules, second compartment lettered in gilt direct, other compartments tooled centrally in gilt, edges sprinkled red. Somewhat rubbed, a little wear to extremities. Booklabels of H.L.E. Panteny and Richard Smith to pastedown, the latter covering an earlier label.

Butler's theological work was first published in 1736 and proved popular, being regularly reprinted in the century following. This edition is recorded by Library Hub only at Swansea, with Worldcat adding Ohio and Iowa.
