Description

8vo, pp. [iv], xxxii, 128 + frontispiece and 5 woodcut plates. Contemporary mottled calf. Slightly spotted, some offsetting from plates. Rebacked, red leather label, hinges relined, old leather crackled to edges.

Notes

An early reprint, the first edition being 1800. The plates and vignettes, traditionally attributed to Bewick, are in fact by John Anderson (1775-1808), who had been apprenticed to Bewick before being transported to Australia, where he died in ignominy at a young age.
