The first edition of the Greek text of Thucydides as edited by Thomas Arnold (1795-1842), which 'went through several editions, and was chiefly significant for its emphasis on historical and geographical interpretation and its comparisons between ancient and modern events' (ODNB). Arnold also freshly collated several significant manuscripts, including an important early version of Book 3 (Laurentian MS C). Isaac Brock (1829-1911) likely received this set as a matriculation gift from one of his multiple relatives named Thomas; he went on to become president of King's College, Nova Scotia.
