Some offsetting from plates, one plate somewhat foxed. Rebacked, new endpapers, new red leather labels. Small ownership ink stamp of John Maitland to title-page of vol. 1.

Notes

An edition of John Spalding's (c.1624-1669) history printed for Sir Walter Scott's text publication society The Bannatyne Club 'from a collation of two Manuscripts, one in the possession of the Right Honourable Lord Forbes, the other belonging to the Club, and recently purchased from the Library of Garden of Troup.' It was edited by Scott's friend, the advocate James Skene.
