Contemporary calf, boards bordered with a gilt rule enclosing a blind roll, spine divided by gilt-rolled raised bands between gilt rules, black morocco label, other compartments tooled centrally in gilt, marbled edges. A little foxed. Front joint sometime repaired, hinge neatly reinforced with tape, somewhat marked, wear to extremities and spine ends. Bookseller’s ticket of Truchy’s English and French Library, Boulevard des Italiens no. 18, à Paris, to pastedown.


The first separate edition of Scott's 1804 poem to be printed in France, in the same year as it was included in Didot and Galignani's 7-volume Complete Poetical Works of Walter Scott.
