Notes

A compilation of material originally issued as 271 numbers of The Tatler between April 12th, 1709 and January 2nd, 1711, representing founders Steele and Addison's tenure there before establishing The Spectator later in 1711. Both men wrote as fictitious editor Isaac Bickerstaff, relaying (and, in some cases, inventing) news, gossip and talk of the town.
