FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. xi, [i], iv, 180, [4]. Contemporary mottled calf, boards bordered by a gilt rule, spine divided by raised bands, edges spotted red. A touch of spotting here and there, one bifolium slightly proud. Joints cracked, leather crackled and rubbed in patches. Ownership inscription of Thomas Whitney to title page.

Notes

The first of an eventual three volumes of memoirs from John Ker (1673-1726), spy against the Jacobites and would-be governor of Bermuda, who was to die in debtors' prison shortly after this book appeared. In this issue the publisher's name is at the foot of the advertisement page.
