FIRST EDITION, 4to, pp. 29, [3] + 10 plates. Original wrappers printed in black and pink. A little light spotting internally. Wrappers somewhat soiled and a bit won, a small hole to front wrapper through first two leaves (Contents and Foreword), with loss to three characters on contents leaf. Ownership inscription of R.A.W. Hughes to contents leaf.


The copy of the poet and novelist Richard Arthur Warren Hughes (1900-1976), author of A High Wind in Jamaica. Hughes was a contemporary of Graves at Oxford (with their 5-year age-difference a result of Graves's war service) and together they co-edited the 1921 edition of Oxford Poetry.
