Contemporary marbled calf, boards bordered with a gilt roll, spine divided by gilt rolls, compartments with gilt wheatsheafs, green morocco label, marbled endpapers. Some minor spotting here and there. Binding a little rubbed at extremities, a touch of wear to corners and spine ends, small chip from head of spine.
Cooke's Pocket Library was issued in two versions, the 'Superior Editions', which were printed on finer paper and contained additional engraved title-pages and portraits, and 'Cheap Editions' at half the price, on plainer paper, without the engraved title-pages and frontispieces and other ornamentation. This is an example of the 'Cheap Edition', albeit in an unusually nice binding for that issue.
