8vo, pp. vi, 314 + 10 plates (1 folding). Untrimmed in modern half leather, red buckram boards, spine divided by raised bands, red leather label. A little soiled, some spotting and foxing, particularly to frontispiece and engraved title-page, some offsetting from plates, corner of one leaf torn away not touching text.

Peter Beckford (1740-1811), MP for Morpeth 1768-1774, was a keen hunter and first published this guide in 1781. The title-page of this edition erroneously credits William Beckford, perhaps Peter's cousin William Thomas Beckford (1760-1844), author of the gothic novel Vathek.
