FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. [iv], 351, [1]. Contemporary sprinkled calf, spine divided by raised bands, red morocco label. Title-page soiled, some spotting and soiling elsewhere, portion of blank corner of final leaf torn away. Some minor scratches and marks, joints cracked but sound, rear flyleaf excised, head of spine worn. Lending rules bookplate of the Edinburgh Theological Library to front pastedown along with their shelfmark, their ownership inscription to title-page, some pencil notes in text, early inscription to front flyleaf.

Notes

The first edition of Mackintosh's important response to Burke's 'Reflections on the Revolution in France', which was reprinted three more times in the same year.
