FIRST BRITISH EDITION, 8vo, pp. 94. Publisher’s note bound in. Original yellow cloth, spine lettered in red, white dustjacket printed in black. Endpapers toned and spotted in places, little dampmarking to rear board also showing inside dustjacket, dustjacket toned, a little rubbed at folds and chipped to corners. Ownership signature of John H. Cole to flyleaf.

Notes

The first British edition of Beckett's most famous work, which was voted 'most significant English language play of the 20th century' in a poll by The Royal National Theatre despite being a translation from French. This edition prints the expurgated text prepared for the London stage in 1955, with some suggestive references removed at the behest of the Lord Chamberlain.
